Re: Looking at a pup.
Back during the national lock down in "2020 - the longest decade in history", we got a group of folks started meeting at a local park, which is now just outside our front door. One of the few reasons one could leave the house without being hassled too much by the authorities was to walk a ...

Re: .45 ACP cylinder fitted!
Can't speak to the Uberti, but the Ruger ACP cylinders go with 45 Cowboy Special brass like peas and carrots - and you can roll crimp numbers like the Keith Auto Rim bullet. Thanks for answering my unspoken question. :D That's a combo I'd like to play with someday. Although the ACP ammo in a 1911 m...

Re: Shooting Long Range With A Handgun
Long range is all perspective. 'Round here the longest I could shoot safely would be around 145 meters (IIRC) and there's so much grass grown up there that even in a dry spell I'd not be able to spot my misses and so get on target. One of my favorite "long range" sessions was when I set up...

After digging a bit I recall why the 38 Spl in the SAA isn't very common... only 25 built on the First Generation guns. And then they came out with 357 magnum which everyone seems to have gone to instead of the 38. I'd still rather have the 38 Spl though. Paul, True on the number 25 as in 38 S.&...

OK, Ray. Knowing your penchant for "make do"... what about a bit of paper clip or heavy monofilament in the extractor groove of the new 30 case? Would that give enough "lip" to keep functional in the Single Seven?

I've been searching for a 5 1/2" 38 Special SAA for a while now. They aren't exactly thick on the ground. I've got too much ammo loaded for my Rugers in 45 caliber to want to risk having a SAA to slip the wrong load into. A 5 1/2" 44 Special would be next on my list of calibers/barrel leng...

I've got my grandpa's old 22 that my aunt gave me after he passed away. Took about half a can of brake cleaner just to flush the bolt out. If there's anything that really suffers on a farm, it's the guns. At least that's my observation after visiting farms in many locations on two different continents... I've long favored the 45 Colt over the newer 44's. Alfred John gave me a Taurus 431 way back when and that got me started on the 44 Special, then I picked up Jeff Quinn's Ruger Bisely Shootist 25th anniversary 44 Special and figure I'm fixed for 44's for the rest of my life. They don't usually hang out around humans and human habitations, but if they're on the ground the dogs like to run them - or try. Puerto Rico's also got a severe infestation of iguanas problem. Meanwhile, the Colombians have really cut into the native population. Doc, you bring up a valid point. That would cause feeding problems with the mag rounds and maybe even cause a ch...
