I have stated this before that I was born and grew up in a pre fabricated house from Michigan USA it even had central heating which was almost unknown in Britain at the time so hard winters were quite bearable back then, my present abode was built in the 1700s and seems to stand up well to bad weath...

OS I like the Bowie and the 1860 but always favoured the Navy grips over those on the Army... Over the years I have mostly favoured non ejector shotguns, not only are they cheaper and less likely to go wrong but they save me the chore of picking up the empties. When I tried to take up metal detecting my spent .22 rim fire shells drove me nuts but all my other brass got picked up.

I don't like the 3" 20 gauge the standard loads have always served me well. Same with all shotguns I think putting too much shot in the shells doesn't make for better patterns, the old timers knew what they were doing a couple of hundred years ago when standard loads were worked out.... :) Trad...

We are back to 24f tomorrow. I lent my son the 16 gauge for a mixed pheasant and snipe shoot with his boss tomorrow, I don't know what his boss will think of the hammer gun but he uses a 16 gauge himself. My son will pick up his new rifle on Monday and may snag a 20 gauge O/U that is straight stocke...
