Re: Dear SAA Guru's
Another thought is to “carefully “ unscrew the grip frame. Then you can remove the bolt, and after removing the base pin, you may have enough wiggle too to work the cylinder out, very gently.

Are you willing to just fire it? Point in a safe direction, pull the trigger and tap the hammer with a wooden weight of some kind. I know that this won’t work in a lot of situations, but it would be my first thought. Transporting it like that is certainly not safe. If you can’t just go outside and s...

It is humorous to consider the Airforce originally adapted the first M-16 pattern in part because General Curtis LeMay thought the M-1 Carbine was outdated. Of course, wanting prestige may have had something to do with it.

Didn’t Elmer Keith write about basically the same sentiment? As a young adult, he was a passionate experimenter. Taylor’s kind of missed the mark. A 9mm lever gun is a great idea for anyone who doesn’t reload, online bulk ammo is half the cost of.38special. But a $2000 gun is too much, I bet the idea will sell if somebody make a 92 clone for 6 to 700 dollars.

Taylor’s sells the Chiapa 1887 for almost $1800. Wow. In all honesty, that shotgun, with an additional rifled choke tube and some kind of rifle sights would suit me far better. Could still play with black powder slug loads. And any 12 gauge 2 3/4” load, light or heavy.

If I had that project, my first thought would be “How big has the chamber and throat eroded to?” You have a small number of cases fired in that rifle. What is the biggest bullet you can slip fit into the cases? There is a shortage of pistol caliber bullet molds between .314” and .355” for the .380 a...

How hard is that on a revolver’s internal mechanism? I did that rather slowly with 2 different .45 colt SAA uberti clones around 20 years ago. Both ended up jumping time and hitting the cartridge with the firing pin on the far edge of the rim.
I got rid of both of them and stopped shooting like that.
