Re: 30wcf Bored out to 35-30 ?

I would go 38-55 over 35-30. No case forming and jacketed.358 bullets for my 35 remington are a pain in the butt to find right now, good thing I cast. What bullets does your 35 rem like? I will chime in for the Hornady bullet, it was noticeably more accurate than the other I tried (Sierra). Though ...

Re: 30wcf Bored out to 35-30 ?

that's what happened to me, I got into other things and the 30-30 shoots well enough. Another issue I had when living in So Cal is the need to use Barnes bullets when hunting. And I found out the Barnes 30-30 bullet needs 1400 fps to open up. So on long shots, it would be going too slow to open up. ...

Re: 30wcf Bored out to 35-30 ?

rifle bullets are going to be pretty long and heavy, with a fairly small case for the powder charge, if you go .358. You pretty much have to use the 200 gr round nose meant for 35 Rem. I thought of doing this but optimizing it for pistol cartridge bullets, .357 diameter instead of .358. I contacted ...

one of my course rules is I can choke up on the pitching wedge. So I can just scoop the ball for a short one. I use wiffle balls until I get on the green, then switch to a regular ball for putting. The models made for 336 will fit but will overhang off the rear of the receiver. I had one from Brockman's. Another one simple and good is the WGRS, by Williams. Both these are set it and forget it, not click adjustable.

I also watch the target for a new hole or dirt kicking up, sometimes I can't hear as well with double ear protection. And quite often somebody else shoots at the exact same time as me, so I hear their report (kind of fun when shooting 22lr, and someone nearby shoots a 450 Marlin at the same time).

after some thought I'm against the idea of two guns sharing the same ammunition; that way you only have one capability when the whole idea is added versatility. And you're limited to pistol calibers for your rifle choice. You wouldn't have long distance capability at all. Small game hunting would be...
