The brass was full length sized. It chambered and fired with no problem. I was not happy with this grouping but it is a start.

I did get to the range for a 100 yard test of this load 100 gr Sierra soft point over 32 gr of imr 4895. The 99 could use a lot better trigger!!!!

I took my Marlin 93, 30-30 and Savage 99, 243 to the range. Now I have to get this done at 100 yards. The Savage has a scope but no scope on the 93. https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/480250_522839884414609_2031348195_n.jpg targets make me appreciate accuracy of leverguns again. ...

Recoil/kick? I have been shooting a local service rifle match with my Mosin Nagant M44. It takes 35 to 45 rounds. It makes other guns seen mild. Tolerating recoil takes focus on target, trigger control, and hearing protection, and other shooting skills. And a gun you can shoot. My worst experience w...

If you use the data supplied with the Lee it usually well below max. I don't do max loads anyhow. It's not worth the risk. That is my plan to use brass used in the gun. It's is only 243 I have.

Reporting; last week I traded a dreaded "plastic" pistol for a savage 99 in 243. It is a pre tang safety model. I have not got it to the range. The price tag was $449. He gave me an even trade
I had a desire for one since the 60's. it balances great.

up grade of 30-30!!!! I don't think there is any round you can put in a re-chambered 30-30 rifle that will give you enough improvement to make it worth while. The Ackley Improved give only 5% you can get that with the new Leverevolution ammo. If you need more from a lever gun Id go with .308 MX or ....

I like the looks of this one by Jeff's outfitters. I am not sure that it will fit the 93. Bob's advertises the Ladder sights for $100. I really don't need such a sight on a 30-30 but would be fun to hit a long range target.
