In thinking about the doe in Runnels co tx. We hunt on a place of 700 acres mostly grass pasture. The pickup is our blind. The deer are not afraid of pickup. I returned to my hunting place in Runnels county with the Leverevolution 30-30 ammo and the proper license. I got a nice doe at 150 yards Friday Morning. I observed that the hornady ammo made small entrance hole and small exit hole. The deer dropped DOA. I had expected big expansion and a large exit...

Re: Marlin model 93
Here is a photo of my Western Auto 200 made by marlin and Marlin 93 made in 1932. I think with normal loaded ammo there is no difference in strength. I think the 336 is more ridged due to round bolt and more enclosed receiver. My 93 is not drilled for scope or peep sight. If you want a compromise lo...

Re: comparison Marlin 336 30-30 and Rossi Rio Grande
The Rossi had a very nice polished blue finish. It is not mirror blue but much better done than the Marlin. the Marlin had almost a bead blasted surface that was blued. Without knowing a brand the Rossi would clearly be the one to buy.

I had the chance today to compare new off the rack Marlin 336 30-30 and Rossi Rio Grande 30-30. I did not have them at the range but at a gun counter. The Rio is much smoother and refined. Clearly better quality control from Rossi. It is a bit lighter than the 336. The 336 has poorer finish on metal...
