Re: Day Is Done, Down The Sun: Taps, For the .450 Marlin
While we lament the demise of the 450 Marlin, how long should we give the 35 Rem and 444 Marlin? I'm not sure either of those has a lot of support with the new company hierarchy as they seem to be chambered in fewer and fewer models.

I've lost exactly one way back in 1969, but he was a good buck. Shot at maybe 50 yards with Remington 308 Win 180gr ammo. The buck jumped a fence onto posted property owned by Arkansas Power & Light Co. and I couldn't follow. I've used a 444 Marlin for almost all my hunting since without complai...

Out of place or not, most of my lever actions wear low magnification scopes. Most of those are fixed 4 powers with heavy reticles. In 44 Special, it sounds like you'd be looking for a Taurus Model 441/431. Mine has a 3" barrel and carries great. I thought they made a similar model in 45 Colt, but it's obviously out of production now.

I've not ever noticed any deflection due to rain, but since the barometric pressure is generally lower during rain, bullets drop will be less than on a warm dry day. BTW, I like shooting on rainy days, especially when it's heavy enough to see the vapor trial to the target.

I tried one and couldn't get used to it. The large ring was just too big and the smaller ring would just fuzz out almost completely. allhands, There is a lot of confusion over this, but to be completely safe, it's generally recommended that C&R eligible guns whether bought under the license or not should be recorded in your bound book when you sell them. The law doesn't specify that you have to - it's vague on this point and ...

I've only sold one that I really wish I could have back. It was a heavy sporterized 1917 (well done) with a shot out barrel. I sold it because of the weight and I had another 30-06.
