I took my first shot with my grandfather's Winchester single shot 22. I was probably only about 8 years old and it became a constant hunting companion until my father gave me a Marlin bolt action 22 years later. The extractor on that single shot was so worn it couldn't eject the cartridge cases, I h...

I kind of like the idea of a separate section for the classifieds. If I don't see them, I won't be tempted.

Well, I chose 30 caliber based on the initial question because I do shoot more 300 Savage than any other. After I voted I saw your stipulation about only having one. That one would have to be the 444 Marlin.

I've also had a Leupold scope that saw a lot of sunlight go plum in color. The rifle sat in a pickup truck rifle rack most of the time and the half facing the window eventually turned a nice shade of purple while the other half remained black. The area under the rings remained black as well so I jus...

Not sure where you are, but just about any gunsmith should be able to sell you a sight elevator and a barrel band screw. Otherwise, you can look up Brownells and check out the parts section. http://www.brownells.com/

I think the Williams receiver sight just mounts in the rear two scope mounting holes, much like a Marlin. I don't think Savage D/T the receiver top for scopes until the early 1950s. The tang sight mounting holes are farther back on the tang. Lots of models to choose from but you would be real lucky ...

Well, I only have one pump gun, a Rem 760 in 300 Savage. It's the most awkward thing to use, but it's darn accurate and swings nice in the hands. It resides in the safe with about 2 dozen levers and a couple of bolt actions.

When the choice becomes a nanny state or a police state, neither of which I'd like to see, I guess I'll stand with Tubby in the front of the bus. Wouldn't want to make it too easy for them.
