A good book if you can find it is "Industrial Mobilization for War" put out by the US Civilian Production Administration. It's dry and presented plainly but the numbers are utterly staggering when you stop to consider it. The depth of our nation's manufacturing ability at that time was pre...

Nice find! The Cooeys are sort of scarce in the states but when you go to Canada it seems like everybody has at least one of the .22s and a shotgun. I imagine that OAL concerns are why you don't see a 3" 410 levergun. Not worth making a dedicated action for a low volume product.

My favorite is an old Winchester 1890, fun to shoot and a joy to carry in the squirrel woods.
Best is probably a CZ 452 American left hand. Thing is very well made and shoots like a bench rifle with good ammo. Absolutely the most accurate sporter weight rifle I've ever owned.

I prefer a short barreled Smith 19 on the belt or an old Colt Agent with a hammer shroud slipped in my pocket, often both. That said, I recently installed a trigger kit on a Smith M&P 45 Compact for shooting buddy and it handles wonderfully. It is light and points very naturally for me.
