hey guys! got my blue to look better. I used a black sharpy through the thin coat of hopes 9 grease that I applied to the light spots on the receiver and smeared it with my finger before it dried. looks better now. I know Im a cheapo but this was a cheap project from the start. besides Im poor. :lol:

Thanks guy's for the info! I went and bought some birchwood casey bluing paste . I steel wooled the receiver down and put 7 or 8 coats on it and just wiped it down betyween coats with a soft cloth. if you rub it with the steel wool the blue would come off real easy. when I got done I sprayed it down...

bad news griff. I have already sanded down to bare metal, and I need to keep this one low cost. Work is slow and I'm scared to turn loose of money right now.

I tried birchwood casey super blue on the receiver. but just like I've been told it didnt take well because of the metal the receivers were made of in those years. 1964- around 1980. any help with getting my receiver in good shape by doing it myself wood be great. you help wood be greatly appreciate...
