Handguns usualy have more "Simple" types of firing pins and are "less" prone to damage from Dry firing. Lots of rifles have longer and more compicated systems including two part firing pins that do take impact with less tolerance . That is an over simplification but generaly true...

Rifle the kid used is a 1911 Swiss rifle so even though it was cool to look at it was not period correct. ( even if it was supposed to be the earlier model that was only 1909) Garner and Shepard are great it did NOT live up to the orignal but it was still enjoyable to watch

Recurves have a tendency to be less forgiving in the relese than long bows do . That can open up groups as weel. Due to the double curve of the limbs and the tendency for the bow nocks ( where the bow string is connected to each end ) on recurves to be smaller, there can be slight twists to the limb...

IM using the same load 31 grains of 30-31 with cast or Barnes 377 bullets they have worked great on two deer so far IM cant wait for a few more weeks to try them again !

Try shooting the bullets UNSIZED first . Just lube them in a pan or tumble lube them with Lee LIquid Alox . That Model should be 375 ONe of hte great all time loads is 33 Grains of 3031 and the Barnes 255 SP Orignal bullet ONE of my 3855s uses that that other uses nothing but lead bullets 250 to 260 grains with 23 Grains of AA 5744 is a great load for cast G ood luck
