I have used M-1s and M-2s but never bought one thinking the 5.56 had more power and was a lighter carbine. Please remember I was the hard-headed SF Guy who carried a M-14 in Iraq because I wanted more hitting power.

I used them in the military for a job and didn't pursue it any further. My wife bought a Ruger 5.7 pistol so I built her an AR that took FN 50 Rd Mags as her car gun. She likes it for the lack of recoil and mag capacity. It works for soft skin and targets short-range.

Sorry to hear about the divorce. I only went through one after a 26-year marriage. It was hard I made the divorce last a bit longer when I had her first lawyer put in federal prison for a couple of years but it was worth it. Sorry to say very common for the people I worked with.

Earl, I used the SS 60 Gr in an MCA adapter in my suppressed M-16 for food addition to MREs. Very quiet, accurate, and handy when you fired the .22 you just cycled the action for 5.56.

I have never Fire-lapped a handgun but I have a few .308 rifles we used as tactical weapons and still have one Brownells lapping kit left for .30 Cal. It made a big difference even though the lack of accuracy was from the operator's lack of maintenance.
