Re: A new .22 (Bearcat)
Now it’s buttery smooth and if I shot it better I would think it would make one ragged hole. Well done on the adjustments. I have a couple of SIngle sixs, and a recently purchased in-the-box Wrangler I got at an auction for $150. The Wrangler shoots pretty well out to 25 yards for rabbits and vermi...

Re: Any 5.7x28 fans here?
I used some German 5.7s in Afghanistan and liked the cartridge for Personal Defense work. My wife wanted a truck gun so I built her an AR carbine that took 50 Rd FN Mags. She shot it and liked it so bought a Ruger 57 pistol to put in the case with it. They are very accurate, function great, and hav...

Sorry, didn't include all the locals. I am pretty lucky as I am trying to make up for working two jobs my whole life. My wife wouldn't live in Alaska so we have a house in Arizona (I wouldn't live in Kalifornia) and I stay in Alaska for several months a year where I was living just after we met. So...

WOW, didn't know they made them in that barrel length. Would have saved my gunsmith time in cutting the barrel from 6 inches to 5 1/2, the 4 3/4 would have been perfect when he put S&W sights in it.

Share photos of locals for the season
I thought I would share a couple of photos of some local wildlife that have been moving about a lot lately. This is the southern house before I go back to Alaska. The snake is a Mojave Green in the Dark phase that was on a neighbor's back porch and the lion cubs are last year's about 400 yards from...

I think the closest thing we have to that is the current production Winchesters under the Browning umbrella. But those are made in Japan. Very good quality though if you don't find the tang safety too offensive. For US made, it's pretty much Henry and Marlin by Ruger for lever rifles. I don't see t...

They are soft-skinned targets and easy to kill with just about anyth...

I have three Rossi 92s One old Saddle ring .45 LC perfected by Steve, one .44 Mag I had a friend adjust, and a .357 Mag Trapper I got last Dec in Ohio. All are great guns with a bit of adjustment (for my purposes). Two are new enough for the bolt safety which I replaced with a .25 ACP cartridge and...

Excellent. I had a game warden friend in the early 80s show me an uncovered dump full of rats. When things quieted down we would go there and shoot until the flashlight went dead. I went through 10,00 rds that year and became a great revolver (S&W Model 17 to match the Model 19 I carried) shot.

As stated all suppressors change POI some with the stiffer barrels not as much. The newer suppressors will improve the accuracy of most rifles as it changes the barrel harmonics. I guess there is an advantage to being old, my Armalite is a first-model 16-inch carbine with a second-upper in with an 18-inch Proof Carbon Fiber wrapped barrel. Re: Looking at 7.62 SLR/MSRs. Opinions, thoughts, experiences
The various AR-10 platforms have poor parts interchangeability ... especially in the magazine catch area. I would stick with the platforms that conform to the SR-25 mag style. I don't know why Armalite did the thing with the M1A mags. It seems like there were plenty of original AR-10 waffle mags fl...

I also have a few 7.62x51 options. My latest is a Dessert Tech convertible between 7.62x51 and 5.56 (and a few others). It shoots great, but I have not yet put the 7.62 x51 barrel in it. Very handy for a truck gun, just a little heavier for the larger caliber. barrels come in different lengths, and...

Short Barreled Leverguns are very handy, even though the government now limits how short they can be. Most are in calibers that handle meat targets well (even the brown bears). They do not upset the sheeple as much as my MP-5, short-barreled rifles, or shotguns. Even Canada allows you to travel thr...
