I passed up a 99 in 308. It's in my daughter's safe! Along with her 303 Savage! Still kicking myself. My first deer was taken with Dad's Model 99 in 243, and I've wanted one since then. The 308 will get all the dust off of your riding jacket. But, it's easy enough to load it to 30-30 velocities if t...

In my younger days, I was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska, home of the Kodiak Brown Bear, which according to zoologist is an oversize grizzly. The only reliable way to tell pressures is have the loads tested in a pressure barrel. I have seen more than one gun blown and the primers look normal, even on what was left of the cartridge that blew. I've said it before- ask the manufacturer what their product is rated for. Someone's data could very well be dangerous in YOUR gun. Well, the barrel says "black powder only" so I'm a slight bit over manufacturer recommendations. I knew this going in. that answers all the questions, yeah?

Scott, this is what I do to firelap my revolvers so they don't lead the barrel with cast bullets.
