Re: Rifle safeties; how "safe"??
I do not totally trust any safety devise, however when I carried a 1911 I carried it cocked and locked. I and my gunsmith made sure the safety devices were totally functional. Otherwise when I'm out in the boonies hiking or hunting I normally carry my rifles with an empty chamber. Regardless of acti...

NICE rifle!
I have a request for all those who post these old guns that use the big cartridges, please post a cartridge along with the rifle. Maybe along side a common round we all are familiar with such as the 30-30.

Re: S&W 629-6 Deluxe 45 Colt Conversion
Right on! That's about the only way to get one that shoots good without fussing with. Neither Ruger nor S&W has ever figured out the 45Colt; one makes the throats too small and the other makes them too large. Very frustrating. The cylinders with oversized throats have to be replaced. Those like...

I like that! Reading your story made me visualize an old head revolver/cast bullet guy like me. 40 y.o.? Surprised the hell out of me...didn't think any youngsters even knew what a 45 L. That was just a light hearted idea :) But what I find strange is that Rossi and Taurus are in Brazil and make guns of that caliber and yet there is no 30-30 brass available. Re: 30-30 case failure
If that is a standard 30-30 chamber there should not be rifling on the case neck. That neck was in the rifling when the round was fired. You can clearly see the imprinted rifling on it. Are you sure it's not some other chambering? As for the point of separation, it looks like brass fatigue to me. As...

Yeah, it is annoying and inconsistent. However, I VASTLY prefer 'consumption' taxes to income or property taxes, as long as they are INSTEAD of those taxes. Yes, the leather lace an cause rust on the steel ring. I once bought one of the saddle ring action screws for my Win 9422.
