Re: Penetration--again

Udy, 1)What was your distance between the muzzle and the first jug? 2)Winter or summer? 3)Did you fill the jugs completely full and cap them tightly? 4)Did you have all the jugs touching each other? 5)Did you always shoot through the widest part of each jug? I'm trying to see how close we were with...

Re: Penetration--again

idiot, I was amazed that the Remington factory load of 405 gr soft nose at about 1330 went through 10 jugs while my hot handload using the Barnes 400 gr soft nose went through 5 and dented the back side of 6th jug. I don't believe the much slower Remington bullet mushroomed while I know the Barnes ...

Re: Penetration--again

Shooting milk jugs is fun. While it may not be the best medium it is a consistant test that any one can do, and from my experience most always repeatable. For a while I was stashing jugs all over the garage, havn't saved any for a while, but I started a chart to keep track of these things. Here is a...

Re: Marlin .410 at Cabela's

I never seem to have money for all the toys I would like. However I would like to have a .410 lever gun, thats just a cool concept and would be fun to own. Also I don't understand all the comments on usefullness. The .410 is the perfect bore for game birds like grouse and the like. Any thing much bi...

Re: OT ~Pocket Watches~

Very cool! I absolutly love the craftsmanship in pocket watches. I have my Great grandfathers 21 Jewel Bunn Special in a white Gold case with a pearl white face and blue hands. He told me he won it in a poker game when he was a youngin. Works, but looses time over the corse of a few days and have to...

Havn't used one of them, but to add to the list is a good pair of hand pruners.

Stihl product- top of the line as far as I am concerned. Makes others look like junk. I carry them in my hunt pack.

Re: OT - 6.5/06

I am actually having a rifle built in this caliber right now. I don't know if the rifle you are looking at is a good one for the conversion, but the caliber its self is a good one. I bought RCBS dies at a reasonable price, and bought 25-06 brass to use in it. It is as simple as running the 25-06 bra...

Hobie, for what its worth I registered here not long ago. I did not think it was an unreasonable process, I read the directions and did it. I think you signed me up the next day if I remember right. If some one can't wait a day or two to sign up on a message board I think maybe they got issues. Heck...

Re: Got my new Davidson's special in today!

udy, is that one with the writing on the bottom of the barrel? i have one like that and wonder why they did not do them all like that. very nice any way you cut it. 8) Pokey-yes its got an acceptable amount of jiberish hiding under the barrel, can't even really tell its there unless you were...

Re: OT- 35 Whelen Pump Rifle

About the most acurate rifle I own. .257 Roberts. 760 Remington If I can hold still it will do this with factory ammo consistantly. Slide actions are under rated, and about the easiest caring gun made next to the lever. Don't know why they never really took off, this one is a fiftys vintage. http://...

Re: Off Topic/Warning Regarding Lawman Leather

For $250 I agree it is not worth any legal action. I second the notion of going to guns and ammo with a letter. If they have any integrety at all (may not, but one would assume they do) I would think they would check into such a complaint with one of there advertisers. Its not good business to promo...

Thanks for the welcome Guys. OK, a couple answers: earlmck- I grew up on the really wet side and now live on the kinda wet side. AJMD429- Yep, I want one in .44Mag. Oh, and I should have been more specific. The 1895M is a 450. I don't have a 45-70 yet, I will as soon as I can figure out why the heck...

Re: OT - Show us your 1911's

My second post, I recon a picture is due. Not the best pic, but first I found, this was the weekend before elk season last fall. Its my favorite carry piece, maybe not the best woods gun, but it is my most comfortable carry, so it seems to find its way around a lot of places. I haven't done a thing ...

New member here from Oregon. I have read here for years, and finally got around to signing up. I think some here will recognize me from elsewhere, as I recognize a few names. Decided to finally jump in. I am relitivally new on the levergun sceen, but they are pretty much my go to guns now. My first ...
