Re: Your Preferred Bullet for your 357 Levergun ?
I've been traveling this road myself for the Marlin 1894 Cowboy. So far, I haven't gotten any favorites, but I have in the back of my mind the NOE 360-160-WFN might be the ticket for an all around bullet. I haven't picked one up yet, as I'm still messing with my Lee SWC bullets. So far, they feed we...

I'm going to make a trip to visit a friend in Northern California. He's in Humbolt County in McKinleyville. Any of our members here in that area or close? I'd love to meet and do a little shooting or talk guns.

We only have a 2 week firearms season here. There is a late muzzleloader, but I don't care nothing for muzzleloaders. Archery runs from September 7 to January 20 though, and again. I don't care nothing for archery.

Re: can a 348 win 71 be rebarrelled to 50 alaskan
The 50-110 is the parent cartridge for the 348 Winchester, and is about 3/8 longer than the 50AK. It was a popular conversion some years back. I've never had one made up, though I'm considering a 50-110, since a buddy has one. If I recall correctly, back when Harold Johnson was tinkering on the 50 A...

My redhawk load is BTB 405Gr TC gas checked hard cast. It penetrates like the early 45/70 carbine rounds, and has penetrated 13 jugs of water from a different redhawk. I don't do a deep cleaning normally. I wipe the soot out of the action with a patch wetted with CLP for leverguns and remove the cylinder and wipe the soot from the frame and cylinder for a sixgun. For either, I'll use a toothbrush if it's very dirty to clean the breechface, around the barrel breech...

The first post said improved... but not necessarily a peep sight. The ones I've shot, the sights were hard to see, weirdly shaped, and the elevator interfered with sighting through the notch when on it's lower settings making the notch very shallow. Don't forget about impact too. Even light impact that won't deform the nipple will help to jar the internal rust loose.

I've been a fancier of old guns, particularly leverguns for over 20 years. I have a 200 gr RCBS mold, 45-201 that I use pretty much exclusively in my 1911s. It has a very narrow shoulder that is seated so close to the case mouth that it doesn't interfere with feeding. 5.0 gr of Bullseye or 5.8 gr of 231 does it for me. I love the RCBS 45-201-SWC in 45 acp. I used a bit le...

I've not experienced this problem before. But I have had experience with Ruger customer service. There has been times it was spectacular. But there has been a couple of flops.
I hate to say this, it'd be better to pay a gunsmith $100 or whatever to have it fixed rather than chance it to Ruger.

Not much reason to run anything right now as he's going to discontinue the use of this bullet since his OAL is too long, and he can't get his rounds to cycle. He's fired a few rounds single shot. I don't know what bullet he's going to try next....
