Re: New Rifle

Congratulations on your Sharps. That one is an exact twin to my first one which I bought when Wolfgang went across the street and started selling direct to dealers. I can't remember what year it was exactly when I bought it, but I do remember that it cost a grand total of $556 to my front door! I pi...

Re: What gun really won the West ?

By the time the Sharps rifle company went under, the buffalo were already nearly a memory and the west had already lost most of it's "wild and wooly" flavor. Cattle were grazing where the buffalo and native populations had once roamed freely, the steamboats were shipping goods up the river...

L.A. Huffman's photos are featured in two volumes that you can obtain on ebay fairly cheaply. BEFORE BARBED WIRE and THE FRONTIER YEARS are both books that will keep you reading and dreaming for a long time. My aunt gave my dad both volumes for Christmas in 1956 which were signed by the authors. Dus...

Maybe you're trying to put large primers in small primer pockets :D The only wear that I can detect on mine is the "nubs" on the plastic magazine lid for the tray. Doesn't lock quite as solidly as it did when new, but other than that....NO problems. I use mine for re-priming .45-2.6-.540 S...

The Lee hand-priming tool comes with a set of directions.....read them, if you did not chuck them into the wastebasket when you took it out of the box. It clearly states that that little pot-metal dogbone or link needs to be lubed with a light coating of grease every now and then. I broke the thumbl...

The innovations this company has introduced over the years have amounted to nothing less than a phenomenon in reloading. Their tools have been copied over and over. I started with George Leonard Herter's Model 3 Model Perfect C-press back upon graduation from high school in 1966, went to RCBS rockch...

'94 Winchester Question

I had a friend email me and asked about when his newly acquired '94 Winchester was made. It is the new angle-eject model and the serial number is 6046XXX. The only thing I have on the '94 is THE WINCHESTER '94......THE FIRST 100 YEARS it was published in 1991 and does not have that information. A 19...

The original "sourdough" front sights were inlaid with gold....where the new Marble's are brass. Why not give us a sight that we want, rather than some piece o' stuff sight that will not reflect light. Ain't we ALL willin' to pay for (at least a gold-plated insert) sight as they originally...
