Browning 1886 - Pay you to swap forend caps

Im considering buying a Browning 1886. The forend cap is off color though which will really bother me. I want to swap with someone, so you still have a forend cap it will just be a hint of purple. I figure this may not bother someone else, who would rather have a new box of primers or something. Let...

Re: 1886 Loading Gate

Some updates to this thread considering it was bumped. I called the lead person at Chiappa USA, he had no idea. He seemed kind of clueless how Chiappa works, because he said "maybe its a new feature they added in 2022 and we just didn't know"..... seems kind of late in the game to say some...

Re: 1886 Loading Gate

That excerpt from the manual literally says that the hammer must not be cocked and to lower it before the magazine can be loaded. It seems the rifle is functioning as intended by the factory although I don’t know why nor how it would be different from a Winchester/Browning. The fact that company pe...

How to clean "Brass" receiver?

I just got this Winchester 94 Centennial from 66'. I don't know what kind of mixture this is, but I know it's not real brass... What if I used something like this (Brasso) on it? I don't want to scratch or stain it, but rather get all the decades of dirt and grime out. https://images.thdstatic.com/p...

Holding the gun so you can see your "notch" .. work the action slowly and see if you can figure out what it is doing. PS .. To cheat a bit, look up a video on YouTube of a 3D animation of how a Marlin leveraction works. The one on the 336 Marlin will show you. It looks liek a part of the ...

What is notch on bottom of Marlin 1894?

It's right by the screw towards the muzzle end of receiver, in front of the trigger guard an inch or two

its a small notch, and a metal piece comes in and out of it, affected by gravity

if i shake the rifle, this piece rattles

what is it?

I didn't know Miroku ever made '73's. What is the finish on it? Caliber? -T- I got what looks like a rare one, I've never seen one like it! Usually they have different stocks with the deluxe model, but I love the wood grain on this one which was why I bought it immediately it also has my favorite b...

Winchester 94 non-stamped carrier

Hey,

I was interested in a 66' Winchester 94 commemorative in 30-30. I have heard this has a stamped carrier and is a weak point.

I've tried calling a few places online and no one has this part. Does anyone know how I would go about replacing that weak part with a better one?

If you like the gold color, better to buy a standard model and have it plated.
Ok, that makes sense, and I was afraid of that. I will buy the 30-30 commemorative instead. I really only want one gun with the gold color.

Thanks!

Winchester 94 Commemorative 30-30... is good?

I'm looking at this rifle. I had a few questions... 1. I notice a lot of the prices on gunbroker are quite low. Is there something bad about the 66 model that I don't know about? I hear some people talking about a "tin stamped" ejector which is low quality... maybe thats easily replaceable...

I love the finish/brass of the Annie Oakley Winchester 94/22, but I hate the engraving on it.

How hard is it to buy this gun and pay someone to re-finish it or somehow sand it off. Is that even possible?

Thanks for all the help in this thread! I have decided on a Winchester 94/22... I have my eye on one. I bought a henry 22 golden boy, and while it's super awesome, it didn't occur to me until after that there's probably an original Browning/Miroku or something during the "golden era" that might be much more desirable. I'm trying to refine my guns down to ones I'd never part with due their ...

You say don't consider finish ? Thats pretty much main reason to buy the Turnbull rifle. Hey, I'm trying to decide between buying an original Browning 1886 built in 1986, or, a new Turnbull Miroku 1886. Specifically, I'm *only* interested in build quality, functionality, lever action smoothness, and FIT... With regards to the FINISH, I know people would likely choose Turnbull but honest...
