Re: Just one Blackhawk

When I bought my .44 mag and .45 Colt Bisleys years ago they were available only in blue and came only with 7 1/2" barrels. I had gunsmiths shorten the barrels to 5 1/2" and I've been very pleased with them. Having steel grip frames, they are more comfortable to shoot than standard Blackha...

You have good taste, Fred. I have a model 24-3 just like that. I did have to put a taller front sight on it. In fact, I shot it at steel gongs just yesterday.

There is a commuter train that runs from about 40 miles south of Albuquerque to Santa Fe which is about 60 miles north of Albuquerque. It has happened on several occasions that the train has hit a cow while crossing Indian land. After all the thumping, the train stops, the rail employees get out and...

Years ago when our kids were maybe 3 and 5 years old, my wife and I drove out to Anaheim to watch the New Years Eve fireworks show at Disneyland. Fred, you'll probably think I lead an exceedingly boring life but I don't own a TV, I don't attend anything that involves crowds of people. Does that make me antisocial? Probably a bit, I suppose. There are so many things I love to do that don't involve other people, except no more than I can count ...

OS, what's the difference between watching a great big screen from a distance and watching a small one up close? Living in SoCal you must have no problem with crowds of people around you. Try a powerful water-based degreaser like Dawn dishwashing soap first. I have often just used brake cleaner for tough tar spots on my truck, flushed with water and then re-applied wax. No harm done.

When the BH flat top .44 specials first came out, I bought one but the front sight at 3/8" was way too low to shoot the Skeeter load. I sent it back to Ruger requesting a 1/2" sight and after that it shot just fine without extremes in rear sight adjustment. Oddly enough, my Bisley .44 spl ...
