On my 0430 walk this morning there was a mountain lion shrieking by a neighbor's house about 75 yards away. My game cameras didn't catch it coming down the driveway but it was nearby.

Zoner, on my Trapper the distance to the first screw is 3.880" plus maybe a thousandth because I didn't perfectly center the screw head.

I hear that! I reached a point a couple of years ago when I couldn't swing my leg over the DR-Z any more so I've had to step onto the foot peg for my leg to clear the tailbag. BTW your new tailbag looks great. The one on my bike is smaller but is expandable to about twice its collapsed height..

Years ago in my "load em as hot as I dare" days I had a #3 in .375 Win which at least at the time, struck me as an uncomfortable gun to shoot. I took it to a gun show and swapped it for a model 94 Big Bore in the same caliber. I much prefer the Winchester.

4t5, it could be that the flat nose of the bullet is too large in diameter; that the ogive is not right for the chamber and the bullet is being pushed back by contact with the front of the chamber. Unless you're dead set on this particular bullet, try one with a more rounded ogive that better matche...

I ordered a shift lever that's an inch longer than stock and has a pivoting tip, also a set of 30mm bar risers and speaking of noisy, a foam pad that goes between the engine and skid plate to reduce the sound of the engine reflecting back off the aluminum skid plate.

I sure like my 24" .45 Colt Cowboy limited. It's a sweet gun. I had to modify the cartridge lifter to solve some feeding issues when I first got it but since then it's worked perfectly.

Bill, there are several powders in the same burning rate range as 2400 and #9. I have used 4227 quite successfully in the past. With 19.0 grains of 4227 behind a 210 gr cast bullet, the velocity while a bit lower than heavy loads of 2400 or AA-9 makes a good load and is quite accurate at a bit above...

Bill, is there a Cabelas or Bass Pro shops store in your area or in El Paso? The store up here also had only AA-2, AA-5 and AA-7 for a long time but within the past few months have had AA-9 available as well.

That's a remarkable gun. The screwhead slots look untouched and it appears that the chambers are recessed. I have an old model SBH manufactered in 1973 and it does not have recessed chambers. I believe Ruger stopped making them that way some time in '73 but I don't know the specifics.
