Jay, I imagine that if your son were a civilian contractor rather than military, he would be bringing in the Big bucks for that sort of work. I hope the military takes really good care of him.

Scott, this is what I do to firelap my revolvers so they don't lead the barrel with cast bullets. I use lead bullets that are rounded all the way to the case mouths; no SWC because they just push the grinding compound out of the barrel. I load up 8 or 10 rounds using around 2 gr of Bullseye. Based o...

Nice pictures, Jay! There's some truly majestic country up there. I really don't know much about warships, patrol boats, etc., but it always pleases me when the Navy or Coast Guard has vessels that can outrun the drug smugglers and other bad guys. Yeah, they think they have the best and fastest that...

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
Back in the fifties and sixties, hunting was considered an honorable pastime by what I'm certain was the majority of the country. Things are way different now; the liberal media has worked overtime to make Americans' perception of hunting as negative as possible. In Sarah Palin's case I would imagin...

Yep, Sarah Palin did exactly the same thing when she was running for VP. She showed pictures of bloody caribou and other game animals she and her party had killed, thinking that the American public reveres the strength of character that must indicate. Well, the people of this country are much less t...

Most of my growing up years were in a very small school, about 300 kids from 1st to 12th grade. My family moved to the city and my graduating class in '68 was made up of over 3,000 kids. Even at that time there were "competitions" to see who could put an adversary into the hospital for a l...

I like using the Lee Factory Crimp Die on most of my pistol calibers but found that it does not work for .45 Colt bullets sized to .454 because the collet is made to crimp no more than .452 diameter. Since I prefer seating and crimping as separate operations, I ordered a new, additional seating/crim...

Scott, I don't know if bullets from Lyman molds are generally available from custom casting businesses or if you cast your own but my best answer to your question is that I've found that the Lyman 452664 has almost the same size meplat as the 270SAA, has a very generous grease groove, weighs in at 2...

There are stories of police officers involved in chases shooting their AR-15 through their windshield. That first shot to break through the glass must result in an eardrum-shattering blast but it appears that subsequent shots are fired with the muzzle out through the window. I doubt that this is acc...

If the result of shooting super high velocity, lightweight bullets like from a .220 Swift or a .264 at game animals frequently results in massive surface wounds but little penetration, then my guess is that similar results would occur shooting a large diameter, lightweight bullet. It wouldn't be sur...

Try a powerful water-based degreaser like Dawn dishwashing soap first. I have often just used brake cleaner for tough tar spots on my truck, flushed with water and then re-applied wax. No harm done.
