Of my Ruger single actions only one is an old model, a 7 1/2" SBH. It's a fine gun and it's the only one of 15 that I haven't "doctored" to achieve a 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 lb trigger pull because it didn't need it when I aquired it. I have had a 4 5/8" .45 Colt for close to 45 years and...

Volquartsen sells a trigger kit for MK series Rugers (I don't know whether that includes the earlier ones) which greatly improves the trigger but most importantly eliminates the need to have the magazine inserted to shoot the gun. I have a MKIII 22/45 as well as a MKIV with which I'm really pleased ...

Re: Carrying a SAA revolver

On transfer bar Rugers, if the base pin isn't in the proper position, the transfer bar rises as the hammer is pulled back and jams against the firing pin. The base pin in its proper position holds the transfer bar away from the firing pin. It is possible but certainly not recommended to point the gu...

Smith and Wesson changed the ejector rod threads from right hand to left hand in 1961 with the standard weight barrel model 10-2 and with the heavy barrel model 10-3 the same year so the isssue of the cylinder locking up was eliminated.

It seems to me that if Keith had a failure with a particular cartridge, maybe because of a difficult shot or the ammo available at the time, he wrote it off as being a worthless cartridge and shunned it for the remainder of his life.
