Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect

It seems like we've had more cloudy weather than usual here. There's still some snow from a week or two ago under the trees but the temps have been warm enough that all we've gotten is a few rain showers.

"Eighty Years with Rod and Rifle" shouldn't be too hard to find. Another of his books, "When the Dogs Bark Treed" was available on Amazon yesterday. It's the author's account of the 100+ mountain lions he killed while a predator control officer. It should arrive soon.

Eighty Years with Rod and Rifle

I bought and read this book about 4 decades ago, then picked it up and read it again today. A short and fascinating account of a fisherman and levergun hunter who eventually became the state game warden of New Mexico. Makes a feller want to go back in time.

Between myself and my shooting partner we have enough fixed sight revolvers that I bought a barrel vise from Midway. I think it was less than $100 and I've used it frequently. There's no doubt that different powders affect leading differently. Also, many commercial machine cast bullets are designed for relatively high velocities, otherwise their lube simply doesn't work. I have eliminated most of my leading issues by fire lapping all of my larger bore revolvers and by usi...

Scott, I have an acquaintance who loves guns, owns several dozen and has a miserable flinch even with .38s and 9mms. With an 18" gong (angled away to avoid ricochets) at 15 yards he frequently hits 2 to 3' low and left of the gong. When we infrequently shoot, I start him out with .22s, then mil...

Of course the big question is how did the live round get in with the duds. Apparently, film crew members were shooting live rounds for fun between filming. My guess is that after the recreational shooting, live rounds were put back into a box thought to be only duds and the boxes were not marked or ...

Hey, cool guns, Six! Very unique 629 and that slip gun is a spectacular prize. I've never owned one of the family of Colt Detective Specials. And I've never owned a nickel plated gun either. What's up with the painted 642?

I do have a 2" model 64 (6 shot) which is a cool gun.

It's a Freedom Arms revolver so I assume there's nothing wrong with the gun. It appears that the previous owner struggled with sight adjustment based on the appearance of the locking screw and moved the rear sight farther and farther the wrong way.
