IMO, bullets that soft need to be below 1300 fps, and even that would contingent bore condition, lube effectiveness, powder choice, etc. Be ever watchful for barrel leading.

One hint... they don't like the rear barrel band cinched down tight. I have two examples in .357 and they both responded well to loosening of the band screw, a little Lock-Tite to hold the screw in place...

Not uncommon to break a transfer bar. A fair number of cowboy action shooters have done the delete the bar modification on their New Models for this reason.

Griff, I would bet that what you've got there in your 5-gallon bucket is not linotype: you've more likely got foundry type metal which is waay richer in tin and antimony than linotype and is wonderful for alloying as you have been doing for many years.
