That would need a beavertail if it was mine, I get hammer bite from 1911s . However I really like them. Sadly I don't own one anymore but I'd like to build another, this time in 40 short & weak. Your Marlin looks like a keeper ! My son has a STI 2011 in .40 S&W. It's really nice... Most guy...

I’m surprised there aren’t loads with the likes of RL7 or 4198. Are these too slow? 4198 has actually long been a standard for "Smokeless for Black" recipes, 40% of the BP charge weight of 4198 gets you in the ballpark. Don't know how long it's been around, I lifted it from Ross Seyfried....

Looks good! The only gun I have with a brass grip frame is an old Jager built, EMF Dakota .357/.38 that was my wife's 2nd cowboy action gun back in the '80s, 1st was a Blackhawk! My google-foo must be lacking, 'cause I sure can't find what I'm looking for. I seem to recall seeing a tool that could be used for adjusting sights in a dovetail. ISTR that it was a screw type device that held the barrel and pushed against the sight.

I use AA5744 in my 45-60WCF and have used it in smokeless development of my 45-90WCF. It's a great powder for making smokeless loads that mimic the old BP loads. It doesn't mind space in the case. Using no fillers I get low ES/SD with my 45-60. I've since moved on to a different powder in my 45-90....
