........hunt around, you may also have a similar/mirror plane that cuts two shoulders and leaves a tongue. they would then be called matching planes, for tongue and groove work, like floor boards etc. Now, THAT would be cool! I haven`t figured out how to use this one yet, is it for cutting a groove...

Our high school physics students have to build those every year. Most try CDs for wheels. Traction is a problem. :wink: Yea it takes a little thought to make them go good, if the car is light and ya wind the string right on the axle they can spin out easy. It`s a toss up between weight and gearing....

How often do you guys change your sights. I figured as some metals ages the molecules start breaking down making the sights appear fuzzy. . Can ya put some wood oil on it ? Thanks they come from the factory with an epoxy finish so I don't think you can get much moisture content in the wood. The browning 1886s don't have the tang safety or rebounding hammer. They were made in the 1980s so if u want to do a project they may be the best choice-if you can find one! I don't think it turned from mud. You usually see that kind of thing in areas that are much more arid, where the mud has time to set between rains. Call me crazy, but I think some poor unsuspecting caveman was admiring an approaching storm when he was hit by lightning, thus branding his footprints ...
