Re: Pretty wood
Major drool factor there Frank! I bought this blank in school, set me back $190 then. I sat on it for about 6 months trying to decide what to put it on. Ultimately it became a 77/22 stock. 20220302_172542.jpg 20220302_172455.jpg It is Claro walnut and fiddleback from tip to butt. Wow, that is gorge...

Re: Pretty wood
Beautiful walnut...and cabinets! I'm also a sucker for nice wood of just about any variety, especially figured wood. I build guitars as a hobby, so I'm always on the lookout for nice pieces to use for guitar tops. I was also on a kick for some time looking for some nice walnut to use for gun grips, ...

Re: "And a .32 gun in his pocket for fun ..."
Speaking of 1907, here is my .32 (WCF) from that year, although not exactly a pocket gun...a Colt SAA. The flour-de-lis grips are after market, but look so nice on this gun that they've become a semi-permanent fixture on there. https://www.mylespaul.com/media/fdl-grips-5-900-jpeg.118027/full And her...

Re: The New Lever Action Pistols - I Think a Missed Opportunity
Living in a state where all NFA items are illegal, I can't go the SBR or suppressor route, so I have to settle for the stock lever action pistols, a.k.a "mare's leg". But I have to say, I love them as-is, and they're a lot of fun to shoot! Here's my Chiappa Mare's Leg takedown model, in 45...

Congrats!
I was actually looking for a Ranch Hand a couple of months ago, but instead, ended up buying a Chiappa Takedown Mare's Leg on Gunbroker. Fun little guns! Enjoy!

Re: Winchester 92 trapper takedown (Japanese)?
Turnbull's custom finished 1892 has bone charcoal color case .No tang safety ,special markings . Finer finished all around. About 1k higher than Standard. Yes, beautiful guns. I have one of those in a takedown model with a 24" octagonal barrel, chambered in .357 Mag. I really need to try and t...

Re: Winchester 92 trapper takedown (Japanese)?
I've had one (in .357 Mag.) for a couple of years, and although I don't shoot it much, I find it to be a great, high quality, little gun. Fit and finish, and especially the wood, is outstanding. I haven't tried shooting it beyond 50 yards, but it does quite well up to that distance. The takedown asp...

Naphtha (lighter fluid) is absolutely your best bet for cleaning the surface; this, from a guy who builds guitars and collects 5+ figure (not finger) guitars.

Re: New acquisitions but not mine !
Thanks, guys! Much appreciated. I should take it out someday and shoot it; in fact, I should try and do that with my son, if we get the chance...just as my dad did with me probably 50 years ago. Frank I used to shoot targets made for 50 ft distance. As I reflected back on those days, all ammunition...

Re: New acquisitions but not mine !
I inherited this beautiful 1938 Model 52 from my dad decades ago, and haven't even shot it. I've sold off several guns I got from him to fund purchases of guns that I do shoot, but never had the heart to part with this one. https://www.mylespaul.com/media/bh4a5139_1400.99201/full?d=1457748355 https:...

Re: Starline 38-55 brass in stock at Midway.
It's quite a bit cheaper if you buy directly from Starline, which is where I normally get it from. And yes, they have it in stock right now as well, with a minimum order of 250: https://www.starlinebrass.com/38-55-brass-2080

I would make sure it is a dummy round. Most likely is but...They are fired electrically, so the right static discharge could set it off.

Re: Gun I'd like to start saving up for....
This "little" shell that I found in my dad's belongings after he passed away appears to be very similar to the one posted in the OP. It measures right around 30mm. I've been wondering exactly what it was...so can someone here enlighten me as to what caliber it is, and what it would be fire...

Re: Winchester 32 special ammo
I have a pile of rifles chambered in 32WS. I really like the cartridge a lot. As for brass......yes, you can use 30-30. However, if you have 30-30 chambered rifles also, it can be an issue. I mounted a campaign with Star Line to produce brass with a 32WS headstamp. They FINALLY did. While I'm not s...

Re: Winchester 32 special ammo
I've been loading for the 32WS for about 30 years and have killed lots of deer and a few bear with it. Been loading for the 38-55 for the past 10 years. I cast for both calibers and use 30-30 cases resized for both. I don't bother to pickup my casings as I have so many extra 30-30, no need to recyc...

I shoot Oregon Trail's Lasercast bullets in my 32-20 Marlin, 115 grain flat nose works great on metallic silhouette animals. Ran out a few days ago and was worried about supply but went to their website and was able to order up a thousand, which will last me a while. With shipping, a little over 10...

Re: Winchester 32 special ammo
I just joined the forum, and I believe this may be my first post here. The main reason I joined was because I also just picked up a Model 94, made in 1921...a saddle ring carbine, in 32 Win Special. It's my first old Winchester, having bought a few new ones as well recently. I've also been on the hu...
