In the novel "Black Light," author Stephen Hunter armed his protagonist, sniper Bob Lee Swagger, with a Mini 14. Hunter is a gun guy, so apparently he has an appreciation for the Mini 14. I'd say you're in good company!

Oh BTW, if you're looking for an all metal hi cap 9mm, the Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Metal is outstanding. Steel slide, aluminum frame, optic ready, pretty much good to go right out of the box.

I use and carry a couple of different 9mm handguns, mainly because it's what most of my students use and it's the cheapest to shoot in competition. But my town has such a low crime rate that I'm pretty sure I can handle anything around here with a five or six shot revolver. Never have felt outgunned...

I always carry spare ammo, even though my life doesn't entail chasing bad guys into caves or buildings anymore. Whether it's a revolver or semi, I"ve always got at least one reload. I've usually got extra ammo on whatever long gun I've got in the truck with me.

Having one of the short shotguns like the Shockwave and your EDC gun will suffice in most cases. An AR pistol will give you more rounds and distance. Neither is wrong, just different tools. Remember, you're also driving a 3000lb battering ram, so that long skinny pedal on the right is your best frie...

I'd probably go with the 454. I'd pair it with a revolver in the same caliber, so I could use a couple of different bullet molds and keep them running. Along with the obligatory 12 gauge loaded with slugs or buckshot and a .22 rifle, I'd think all bases would be covered. However, I say all this as a...
