POLITICS - Question on the new Rep. VP???

Post by Rusty »

I see where the Gov of AK is listed as being a life member of the NRA. Does anyone know if someone running for this high an office was ever a life member before, or even any kind of member?

Politicians have been ponying-up the money for a Life Membership for years.

However, I think Palin may be the first to join the NRA and then run for office.

Me too.

My female political focus group (my wife) likes Palin a lot.

- made her own way separate from her husband
- hunts/fishes
- NRA member
- not afraid to "blow the whistle" on members of her own party
- pro life (even when she's told that her own unborn baby may have a birth defect)
- kept her campaign promises

Bingo!

Yep, many a politician joins the NRA or pays up to life member status if they want to run with an (R) behind their name. Some Dem's do the same thing in certain districts. I'd hazard to guess that most of them have as much practical experience with a gun as Kerry did in his infamous "duck-hunter" pandering. Palin is not that way - she has been a life-long shooting and hunting enthusiast. As noted - the real deal.

If you'll recall Bush Sr. actually renounced his life membership status after LaPierre referred to the BATF as "jack-booted thugs". As much as I support LEO's at every level, recent history has proven repeatedly and starkly (Waco, Katrina, Gonzales, Ruby Ridge, etc.) that under leftist political leadership, some LEO's can indeed become oppressive. As with many others things (suchs as his "no new taxes" pledge being broken), Bush Sr. was wrong - and deserved his fate as a one-term President.
