legendary Frontiersman 38-55 worth

Post by Thunder50 »

There is one (rifle) at the local show, new, but unsure if it has a box or not. Whats the thing worth? Thanks

I would say in the $6-750 range. However, be very careful about the groove diameter. They've been known to run to the large size.

I have had one for several years, shot it a bit and it shoots very well. Have not had it out of the safe for a couple years though. Griff is correct the bore on these will run large. Mine slugs with a groove dia of .379-.380. That being said the Barnes 255 .377 bullets shoot great but are a bit pricey. Mine likes the Mt. Baldy or the Beartooth 255 grain bullets properly sized.

With box, all papers, original cleaning rag, etc I would say you would get one at a gun show around here for anywhere between $650 and $800.
regards

I've got one in my safe, but I purchased it a number of years ago and I'd have to say what I paid for it isn't current.

Saw three at the show today. Boxes or not they were asking $525-600. IME, if the gun is immaculate but sans box I might offer $450 and be willing to pay $500 unless of course they are asking less to start and I'd then drop it a bit...
