this custom rifle, made from an original 1890 winchester pump in 22 short. take down model, very well balanced and smooth operating gun with 24 oct. barrel, just ordered a tang sight to fit it:
has nice wood and overall is a little beauty ! grand kids will love playing with this one!
i will post more pictures in a week or two when i am back in alaska.
there was a firearms engineer, designer, and collector in california who made this and several other neat things, and i got them from his estate after he passed.
he made a lot of this stuff by hand, and was obviously a good machinist i think. this started life as a model 1890 pump.
winchester actually made some prototypes like this but thought that people only wanted the pumps. marlin sure proved them wrong, but it took them until the 1970s to admit it and make the model 94/22 !

this one is very smooth in operation.
The fact that it did start as an 1890 pump (I did notice that) and still retains the receiver and 'lifting head-cover' is why I am interested in how this works under a lever 'normal straight back' motion.
