NOE news

Post by Bronco »

Howdy All,
I talked to Al yesterday about when he thought he would have the 410 slug available, been wanting one when I first saw it and it was just after he closed, he said probably next week. Yiipee!! Looks like they are getting ready to update their catalog! He said that he has gotten back with his partner that he had when he first started. His partner left to do his own business doing jobber orders. Well the partner found out that jobbers were not that steady so they are back together. Al said the new production molds will be just as good as the old or even a little better. The slug I have been wishing to get looks like a large air gun pellet.
Anyway this is good news for me and I thought I would share it with anyone who likes NOE molds.

Great!
Im curious how those slugs shoot, I've been thinking about trying 410 for deer, even though it's not legal here.

Hadn't heard they were bringing out such a critter. I'm guessing it's geared towards smooth bore. Is it designed to load in a shot cup, or just loaded over an over powder wad? NOE's got a great rep in molds, looking forward to what you may discover with this one.

Do not know what the stack in the hull will be! I guess I will learn about it either from reading or talking to Al. I am shooting it in a Remington 1100 with smooth bore. I would guess it would work in a rifled barrel.

I have a Lyman hour glass slug mould, out of my Savage 220 bolt gun the book loads using a wad just SUCKED for accuracy. I started using a gas seal, 3 cardboard wads and a couple pieces of hull for a sabot and the accuracy came into a couple inches at 100. From a 3" hull. I need to do some more testing yet.
I can see using a wad for smooth bore and getting fair accuracy but my slug gun they just didn't have enough grab into the lands to stabilize.
