Holy Smokes!!!!!

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

This was a new one on me. Though I saw that Del Toro fellow doing it with a Beretta in a movie one time.

As a teen, I was taught how to empty a .22 lr semiauto rifle so fast that it got the Cops called to the dump on the North end of town several times for machine gun fire. They went through my car, fired my Glenfield 60, and never figured it out. Not great accuracy, but it put all 18 rounds in a Torso target in about 2 1/2 seconds.

That should be mandatory in service training for every police officer.

Looks like that first fellow is bouncing against his trigger finger with his other hand on the grips...? Interesting but fast for sure.

Dan Combs said "There is no second-place winner in a gun fight" - reminds me of the title of Bill Jordan's autobiography "No Second Place Winner"

What's impressive is not just the speed from the decision to draw to the bullet impact, but in real-life, these guys (actually all cops and CCW'ers) have to make a split-second decision as to IF they need to draw and fire. That seems to be the hardest part, as you do that too soon and you may kill an innocent person, but you do it too late and you will be the dead one.

Although Bob Munden was recognized mainly for his SAA work, he was also known to use the support hand finger on trigger technique with a 1911. There may be some video out there still.

One of my shooting partners who was a very large human, and also a powerlifter, could bump fire an entire magazine from a 1911 on target from an isosceles stance. I could achieve 3-4 round bursts on lateral moving targets - you ride the reset and let up on the strong hand enough to let the gun bounce off the trigger, steer with the support hand. Fun stuff, though not precise enough for anything but close-in work.
