Politics -"To Serve Man"

Post by Ridgerunner »

Every time I hear the "presumtive" Demonrat candidate for president speak, I am reminded of the old "Twilight Zone" episode about the aliens who came to earth and gave mankind all it desired. They presented a book entitled "To Serve Man" in English on the cover, but the text was in their native tongue. Then, as the main scientist character, who, with his assistant, was trying to translate the book, is boarding the spaceship to go "visit" the aliens' home planet, his assistant rushes to the entry control point, and screams as she is held back by security "IT'S A COOKBOOK!!!!!"
Confederately yours,

RR,
One of my favorite episodes! Reminds me of what my dad used to tell me:
Son, if someone should come to you and tell you "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you", you run like He!! !

BTW, I know Richard Keil, the actor who played Kanamit, the visiting alien. He's a good guy and a very strong Christian with a very powerful testimony. He said that this was one of his favorite parts as he had no lines to learn. All of his "thoughts" were voice overs by another actor. From about 2000, here's a photo of Richard and me. I'm a little better than 5'9". Note the size of his hand on my shoulder. He still gets fan letters from his "Jaws" role (James Bond).

That is cool!!

I have always liked him as an actor. I didn't know that he was the same guy in that TZ episode.

He was also in a number of Eastwood westerns. I presume he has acromegaly or some similar thing that has made him grow so huge. I hope he has had it dealt with so it doesn't affect his longlevity. A nurse I knew earned the nickname 'forklift' because she was similarly large and could transfer patients after surgery so easily from cart to bed, with less trauma than when two or three nurses had to do it.

Yes, that is what he has. He was in a serious crash in 1992 (give or take) and that added to his health problems. If you remember him in Happy Gilmore, he either had a cane or was leaning on somebody in all his shots. He doesn't let it get him down, though...

That is a great analogy Ridgerunner.....very appropriate.

Don Tomas'....that pic is too cool and cooler still to hear of this man's Christian Faith!
