Taking good pictures

Post by Old Savage »

I have had problems in taking high quality pictures for the forum. The problem is usually the flash. I have looked through the settings and for this I used the behind the glass setting. But some guys here get very detailed sharp pics without the flash - what are you fellows doing. My camera is an Olympus Stylus 500.

By the way, the blade stains with beautiful bright hues of blue and goldish rust with use - cutting grilled chicken did what you see but it doesn't really reveal it fully.

On a bright day, use the shady side of the house or under a large porch.

Do not use the flash. If you need extra light on an area use a reflector to "beam in" some light.

Set the camera on a tripod and either trigger it remotely or use the timer so there are no possiblities of tremor.

Find a background that the resolution likes. One of my cameras works best with a light brown background. Otherwise I use a Neutral Gray Card.

If at all possible use outdoor lighting and no flash.
Always keep the direct sun behind you and the camera.

Very nice knives, that second knife is way cool.

I need this advice as well. Of course, I also need to figure out how to remove pictures of my feet from most shots!

No flash, natural indirect light, nuetral background.

The bottom knife is a Case Mid-Folding Hunter(nice), but the top one. What is that? custom

rj94 - bottom knife is indeed a Case midfolding hunter and was a gift from my daughters for fathers fathers day a few years ago and is my daily carry knife - this one is carbon steel and is pitted on the left side of the blade from back pocket carry here in golf in the 100+ heat, jigged bone handle - love knives.

Doc Walker - The bottom is a 6 inch Bowie from Sheffield in England and you can see it on their site.
