POLITICS - Iraq: land of deep roots

Post by O.S.O.K. »

Well, my folks sent this to me via email - very interesting - thought I'd pass it on here:

----------

1. The Garden of Eden was in Iraq 2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq,
was the cradle of civilization!< br> 3. Noah built the ark in Iraq 4.
The Tower of Babel was in Iraq 5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in
Southern Iraq !6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is in Iraq !7.
Jacob met Rachel in Iraq 8. Jonah preached in Nineveh - which is in
Iraq 9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel
10. Amos cried out in Iraq !11 Babylon , which is in Iraq , destroyed
Jerusalem 12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq !13. The three Hebrew
children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been in Iraq also as the
fourth person in the Fiery Furnace!) 14. Belshazzar, the King of
Babylon saw the 'writing on the wall' in Iraq 15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of
Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq 16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq
.. 17. The wise men were from Iraq 18. Peter preached in Iraq ...

20
19. The 'Empire of Man' described in Revelation is called Babylon
,which was a city in Iraq ! And you have probably seen this one: Israel is
the nation most often mentioned in the Bible.

But do you know which nation is second?

It is Iraq !

However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible.

The names used in the Bible are Babylon , Land of Shinar , and
Mesopotamia ... The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more
exactly between the Tigris And Euphrates Rivers ..

The name Iraq , means country with deep roots.Indeed Iraq is a country
with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible. No
other nation, except Israel , has more history and prophecy associated With
it than Iraq And also, This is something to think about:Since America
is typically represented by an eagle.

Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages ...The following
verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible) Koran ( 9:11 ) - For it is
written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle.. The wrath of
the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while
some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath
of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah;

And there was peace. (Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmm?!
I BETTER NOT
HEAR OF ANYONE BREAKING THIS ONE OR SEE IT DELETED.

This is a ribbon for soldiers fighting in Iraq .

Pass it on to everyone and pray.

Something good will happen to you tonight at 11:11 PM.

This is not a joke.

Someone will either call you or will talk to you online and say that
they love you.

Do not break this chain.

Send this to 13 people in The next 15 minutes.

Go.

-------------------------

Sorry about the "chain" thing - that was part of it... and I don't want to anger the chain Gods! ;)

"For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle....."
Maybe somewhere, but not in the Koran. Chapter 9, verse 11 actually says "But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and we make the communications clear for a people who know."

Shhh.

Don't confuse the poor chain email author with silly facts...

Sura 9 (The Repentance) Verse 11:

فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتَوُاْ الزَّكَاةَ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَنُفَصِّلُ الآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ

Depending on your translation: Note that any translation of the Qur'an immediately ceases to be the literal word of Allah, and hence cannot be equated with the Qur'an in its original Arabic form. (Convienent, that...)

There are 3 "accepted" "translations"

009.011

YUSUFALI: But (even so), if they repent, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity,- they are your brethren in Faith: (thus) do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who understand.

PICKTHAL: But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge.

SHAKIR: But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and We make the communications clear for a people who know.

Actually, the only place "eagle" is mentioned in ANY Muslim literature is in Malik's Muwatta:
Book 20, Number 20.72.243:
Malik said, I still hear that when a person in ihram kills an ostrich, a camel is due."

Malik said, "I think that for an ostrich egg, one tenth of the price of a camel is due in the same way that there is a newly-born male or female slave for the unborn child of a free woman. The value of the newly-born slave is fifty dinars, and that is one-tenth of what the blood-money for the mother would be.

"Birds from the eagle family, eagles or falcons or vultures count as game for which a price is paid just as a price is paid for any game which a person in ihram kills. For everything for which a penalty is paid, the assessment is the same, whether the animal is old or young. The analogy of that is that the blood-money for the young and the old freeman, are considered to be the same."
Oh well. So much for a good Chain Mail.

Sorry OSOK, not your fault, but there it is.

Oh, if you are interested in finding out what the Quran actually says (at least in translation) so you can argue against it, look at the following:
