I apologize if I posted this before:
The Morrison family moved out to California from Winterset, Iowa, about 1915. The older of their two boys was particularly devoted to a big rangey Airedale named Duke, so much so that the fellas at the fire station in Glendale started calling him Little Duke as the two seemed inseparable. Here is a family portrait from around 1916, mom and dad both heeled, and that is young Marion with Duke on the left. And yes, Marion grew up to be John Wayne.

I toured the John Wayne Museum at the Ft. Worth Stockyards in July ‘21. I highly recommend it.

And this is exactly why every kid NEEDS a dog.
No telling what greatness can or cant be had without man's best friend.
