Actually, I am a noncard carrying member of PETA, People Eating Tasty Animals! BTW, glad the hunter had the camera, but if it was me I'd have BOTH hands on the Glock! I can understand him missing the cougar, especially if he was hunting in Kalifornication!

I would have shot it...to kill, but with my rifle. What people don't realize is that cougar could have rushed that dude in a half second making a hit improbable. The government has people on a total edge of restraint that many will die because of hesitation. You know, all in the name of fear of being prosecuted.

Yeah I have to disagree with Noir about the Glock being the better tool. I’d rather be holding most any hunting rifle in that situation assuming it’s in a suitable medium to big game cartridge. A shotgun with large buckshot would be even better. More capacity isn’t going to help much in a committed charge. I’d rather run him through with a good rifle shot than pepper him with a 9, 40, 10, or 45 automatic. At least I might use the rifle as a pole if it gets to me. Of course he may have been bow hunting. Thankfully the cat thought better of it even with the misses. I think backing up encouraged the puma.

I remember a story out of one of Peter Capstick's books...This native was walking down a track with his spear over his shoulder with the tip facing backwards. He felt something snag the spear so he dropped it and ran a little ways. When he turned around he saw a leopard with his spear down its throat. Seems the leopard had taken a running leap at the native but didn't see the spear and impaled itself.

Pardon me for sidetracking the thread. The main video and some of the posts reminded me of that story.

That guy gave the cat a long time to make its his mind. As soon as I start backing off and it kept coming at me. I would have shot it. I don't own a glock anymore and my carry field gun is either a SW 44 magnum or a SW 500 magnum. That would be one hurting or dead kitty,,,,, SSS.

RIA 10mm would be on my hip on that situation. That Kitty might not handle 180 grains of .40 diameter jacketed lead too well. I wouldn't accept becoming dinner to a big kitty.

Definitely a "prey" action. Stress level on high, misses likely and very probable. 50 meter sprints between shooting strings will alleviate that.

Shooting one handed probly didn't help much neither.
