Ladies, leverguns, and bears... oh, my!

Post by hfcable »

many may remember this one, i posted in 2016, the daughter of a coworker and friend, who took her first bear, a cinnamon colored black bear, with a marlin 44:

and here 6 years and 2 weeks later, is her great aunt with a cinnamon bear, taken with an original winchester 1886 in 45/70:

the older lady [ 84 years old ] lives in Northway , Alaska. the bear was taken on her property as it stood aggravating her 2 dogs. the shot was at approximately 100 yds and one shot did it. the load was a handloaded 405 gr. probably with a healthy dose of 3031.

what a family !

hfcable,

Was it you who some years back posted a pic of a very well used (but very cared for) AR pattern carbine laying in the bottom of a canoe?

I recently got myself over my childish prejudice against the AR and would like to ask you about yours, if it was you.

That is how it should be. Teach them responsibility, also. Having your kids and grandkids grow up into people you can be proud of is worth the effort.

Awesome! Those little single shot .22 lr rifles are accurate and reliable. Great way to teach kids. No kick and not much to wear out.
