I have been offered a Uberti 1873 in .357 at a price that is hard to pass up. It has a really great trigger, but I think the previous owner put a short stroke kit in it.
Slick as glass and I think it would be a hoot to shoot, but I wonder if the short stroke does anything to weaken the action such that I should not shoot my regular .357 loads in this rifle? [14gr of 2400 under a 158 gr XTP].
Anybody have some insight on how this works and whether my concern is valid?

I couldn't tell you if installing a short stroke kit would lessen the action's strength at all. But, the way to tell if it has a short stroke is the hold the receiver horizontal and work the lever forward, if it goes just slightly beyond vertical, it's most likely a full stroke gun.

Im no expert and Nate posting makes my input redundant. But I had the understanding a short stroke kit can greatly weaken the ability for full house loads. I havent seen direct references to problems with 357 but on The Wire there are fellas who have bent their toggles pretty good running 44mag in a stroked 73'.
