You MIGHT Be a Gunrunner, IF.........

Post by Pete44ru »

In a pamphlet entitled: "Project Gunrunner: The Southwest Border Initiative" , sent out to all FFL's in the Southwestern US.

The first page lists "key indicators", that your customer may be a gunrunner buying guns and transporting them into Mexico.

1. Wants to buy a large number of the same model firearm, or similar firearms.

2. Chooses only military style semi-auto rifles (.223 or 7.62x39) and large frame semi-auto pistols (.38 super, 9mm, .45 and 5.7mm)

3. Orders more of the same firearms

4. Structures their purchases to avoid ATF reporting requirements

5. Attempts to conceal their conversations with each other

6. Not haggling or questioning the prices, money is not an issue

7. Pays in cash with the same denomination. They may use a credit card.

8. Have little or no knowledge of the firearms they are purchasing

9. Lacks the physical stature to handle the firearm being purchased (I'm not making this up!)

10. Avoids entering into conversation or becomes evasive to questions posed to them.

(EDIT) 11. Offers to pay in Pesos or coke.

In a post a few days back, I mentioned being confused with a gunrunner when I moved to N.M. as my route takes me real close to the Mexican border.
Knowing that such a pamplet exists does not make me feel any better.
I wonder how many is too many?

1. Wants to buy a large number of the same model firearm, or similar firearms. Gun club.

2. Chooses only military style semi-auto rifles (.223 or 7.62x39) and large frame semi-auto pistols (.38 super, 9mm, .45 and 5.7mm) Weekend warrior.

3. Orders more of the same firearms He knows what he likes.

4. Structures their purchases to avoid ATF reporting requirements Doesn't everybody?

5. Attempts to conceal their conversations with each other Doctors. Talking about confidetial patient stuff.

6. Not haggling or questioning the prices, money is not an issue Their wallet to brain ration is disproportionate.

7. Pays in cash with the same denomination. They may use a credit card. He's a hotdog vender. Everybody uses plastic!

8. Have little or no knowledge of the firearms they are purchasing That describes most people around here.

9. Lacks the physical stature to handle the firearm being purchased (I'm not making this up!) It's a free country, if he wants to stand up after every shot that's ok with me.

10. Avoids entering into conversation or becomes evasive to questions posed to them. He's from the competitve store accoss town but your store prices are better than his employee discount.

(EDIT) 11. Offers to pay in.....coke. That's easy: call the grocery store, ask how much the 12-packs are and divide accordingly.
