More On/T Browsing LeverGuns

Post by oldmax »

I have been in a few local gunshops lately ( Jax,Fl area).
Thought I would let you know what I resisted buying.

94AE 45 Colt , cross bar safety, trapper.: Nice clean Gun, Good Blue Clean Wood,
But, Barrel Turned to the Left, Now If I bought it I would have had left leaning & Right
leaning rifles, ??? Asking price was $699 , Same place I bought my right leaner.
He was asking $550 , I got it for 400 Tittle&Tags Included ( And No Saftey)..

Another W94ae 45Colt, 20 Inch barrel, with a safty on the stock, Good clean rifle...
asking price $7xx, Forgot to right the price down..

And yet another 94AE, AND in 356W, Nice looking gun , except
Cheap scope, with the forward scope mount Screws in the sides of the base,
Must have been drilled and tapped, So a good gun screwed up by an amatuer .
This was also in the 7xx Range, I promise I will do better next time..

I asked The retired guy in the shop about extra screw holes in The Rifle , he smiled and said,
We see a lot of that around here !!!

Not so - Early AE BigBores were so D/T'd by Ole Oliver, hisself.

Oldmax,

I use to get by the Green Acres store in Jax every now and then and found some unique and fairly priced lever guns. Is that still the case now?

Bruce, Green Acres, They seem to have less guns and more expensive,

Old Middleburg Pawn has a lot of guns, His are USED guns...

SHOOTERS on University of Philis HWY is the cheapest for new guns, does a huge business, LOT's of handguns.
Plus His used guns are a good price,

Pete: tell me more please, I may go back and reconsider.

Not much more to tell - When Winchester first issued AE BigBores, the front ring was D/T'd for a straddle-type base, just like the rear except for a concave base-bottom to fit the front receiver ring.

I can't recall ( does that make me a politician ? ) when they switched to D/T'ing the front receiver ring inline w/the bore - but it wasn't very long.

That's why, when ordering scope mount bases, the type drilling pattern must be specified.
