I don't remember how many hits I had, but as you can see, the sun was low, and the smoke only drifted away, but I grinned the whole time!!

Looks like fun to me. I'd have been grinning the whole time, too.

Griff,

Here I is. I had to go sort some brass for a trade and then played some computer games. Then the wife got home and ran me off the computer. So now I'm back.

Love that mount you got there. Nice and easy to ride. Did they let you get off to reload that rifle or did you do it from the saddle?

Thanks for the pic. I enjoyed looking at it.

nice looking rifle. can't say much for your trusty steed though, seems to be missing some parts. Looks like a lot of fun though

Beautiful Hawkin, Griff. Did you build it? I always have loved this style rifle.

Joe, figured as much, just had to tease a lil' :D Now, once ya mounted up, ya had to stay up there as I recall. Yea, this was a big improvement over '86 when they still had the "rockers" under "hoss". And some evil, low-down scamp busy rockin' ya as ya tried to shoot. Since I seem to recall that was the fastest 7 hits, I just loaded under battle conditions, sans patches. Dump powder, drop ball, tamp butt on ground, cap, aim & fire, blow sparks, and repeat. Ain't the most accurate way to shoot, but... could save yer bacon.

ole pizen slinger, nah, it was a store-bought replica. Built by Uberti and sold thru the Log Cabin Shop. .53 caliber. Supposedly a duplicate of a J&S Hawken found in Santa Fe, NM.

It is fun, once I get this other truck outta hock, I hope to be able to get in more shootin', less drivin'.
