I'll have to check this out. On the surface, it sounds exactly 100% correct. We need to take a multi-pronged approach to energy independence. We need a world-class nuclear energy program, providing most of our electrical power grid needs. We need world-class research into alternative energy. We need best-in-world energy conservation technology that does not reduce our standard of living. And most importantly - right now - we need to start drilling for our own oil and natural gas!

Amen to what Ysabel Kid said. As a huge added bonus, wouldn't it be nice to tell those oil exporting countries who hate us so vehemently to stick it where the sun don't shine? - DixieBoy

Funny how, until 3-mile Island and the Santa Barbara spill we were on track to do just those things...

The sad part is that nobody understands that they were the exception rather than the norm'.

I don't think more drilling is going to help that much. We need more refineries as well. Last I heard every refinery out there is running at 80%+
capacity.

If we can put a spacecraft on Mars to dig for water, why can't we build an affordable vehicle to run around on Earth? What kind of system provides power for thhe Space Shuttle and the ISS? I heard theey had hydrogen fuel cells. :?:

In a word, "YES!"

Would be nice to tell the whole area, "hey - we don't care what you do to one another - we don't NEED YOU!!" :D

I logged onto their site and contacted them. Told them to print up a lot of bumper stickers with that slogan on it (and a US flag for those that don't know where "here" is.) and I bet a whoooole lot of folks were waiting to stick them on the back of their trucks, SUVs and cars.

I sure hope they do it. That could energize, pardon the pun, a whole lot of down in the mouth voters.

We in the industry have been saying this my whole career.

To comment on Rusty, most of our refineries are running more like 92+% and we try to keep them above 95%. I recently talked to another oil company that had to shut in its field because they could not get a refinery to run it's oil. This is here in the states. I was just shocked! It was a small field and a small company, but still.

I still have good prospects in ANWR and there is oil left to drill for in Sword (offshore California) and the western side of offshore Florida has been looking good for decades. We just need to get access to them.
38-55 & 38/44 What a combination!
