Anne Frank (the Whole Story) ABC miniseries

Post by Hillbilly »

We watched a movie about the young Dutch girls last years hiding in Holland.... and what is suposed to have happened in her Camps at the very end.
Most of her family and those that hid with them died just a few weeks before their camps were liberated.

Powerful and sobering.

If you know the story... remember it. Get your kids to read the books about Anne or watch one of the several good films about her life.

Freedom is not free

+1 an incredible story. Here is another one that has always been incredibly inspiring, personally:

Rant to the Choir: This era of history should reveal to the socialist elites that their theories on gun control are not worth a trip to the outhouse, as millions and millions were murdered in the 20th century when they were not allowed to own weapons for their own defense. But I guess one needs common sense to understand these little intricasies, and the current educational system does not encourage this type of thing :?

Rant off :)

My Dad's parents immigrated from Germany in 1929. Somehow, my grandparent's brothers and sisters survived the War. I grew up listening to horror stories about the "old country." As a young man, one of my most profound moments occured when I met a man with numbers tatooed on his arm. I vowed, "Never again will this be allowed to happen."

In the late seventies my stepfather was superintendent of Ohav Shalom a retirement
home for people of the Jewish faith. We had an apartment there so he could
be on call if anything needed doing. I am not sure how many people there
had a tatoo but I personally saw around 25 or more on wrists. An old man named
Desi who was a tailor and loved to make clothing for people was a very good
friend of mine, he was numbered like livestock, and told me about his time
during the war. I WILL NEVER FORGET or allow such things to happen while
I draw breath in America.

I am Roman Catholic and everyone knew it there, they were very kind and
Christmas was always great, cards and gifts aplenty. :D

I seriously doubt it will be the whole story of Anne Frank. If it were, they would tell the part about how the author made most of it up.

So is the mini series not based on her autobiography of the days in hiding? I have read the book but not seen the series.

Apparently the author of the autobiography took a lot of liberties. Many descriptions and situations in the story are basically implausible. Not that horrible things didnt happen or that they didn't have a hard time of it.

Dad's unit (Sixth Armored) went thru Buchenwald. That was one thing he never would talk about. They had very little consideration for german troops after Malmady, and outright hatred after Buchenwald. The man I knew was a gentle and loving soul. That he could hate the way he did says more that volumes of books on the subject.
