Saw Blackhorn BP substitute at Midway. Anyone use this in BP cartidges (45-90) Any thoughts on using it in my 1887?
Been thinking about buying a drilling any advice on a good resource for making a good decision would be greatly appreciated.

James, if you click on "product description" at Midway, then click on "more detail" which takes you to Blackhorn's website, then click on the brochure, you will see they do not recommend any standard or rifle primers, or bullets heavier than 350 grains. This powder was apparently made for in-line muzzle loaders only with a particular type of primer. It doesn't sound suitable for the 45-90 cartridge or many others.

Yep, they called it smokeless powder and then there were naysayers who said not to use it in BP guns...I just wish someone would make a good BP substitute with minimal fouling, good ballistics and NO smoke. I think they did back in the late 1800s but then there's the problem of pressure.
