OT- Redfield Olympic rear peep sight still in production?

I've always heard of them but are they still produced? What about spare parts?

Looking at a rifle that has one but don't want to pay the extra should the sight not work and I can't get parts or a replacement.

Were I you, I'd base my decision on whether other comparable sights were available for replacement, not on whether the existing sight could be repaired. What kind of rifle is it?

It's an H&R .38-55. I'm not sure yet if the exisitng scope mount holes were used or if new ones were d&t for the Redfield.

Ok, so I've seen ONE guy who actually beat his receiver sight off the rifle while chasing bear through the woods but... I've never seen a receiver sight simply fail. Unless there is some concern you haven't mentioned like rust, I don't see that finding repair parts is a concern. BJonessights.com is likely the best place to go for answers to your questions.

The holes are likely factory.

I can see how an Olympic design could get busted up in the field. That said and assuming we're talking about a Buffalo Classic here, I know Williams makes a very solid ramp-type peep sight (WGRS) for that rifle, and a Foolproof, as well, I think. So, you've definitely got options.

Personally, I think the WGRS goes great on those rigs, but...they don't have click adjustments, as I recall.

The Redfield Olympic is no longer manufactured but not to fret. It is a VERY robust sight made to exacting tolerances and intended for the constant adjustments required in precision marksmanship. I have never seen or heard tell of one failing in any way. These sights are readily available on ebay, among other auction sites.

I beleive Numrich sells parts for those. If not I have gotten parts for them at gunshows.
