My first shot of 2015

Post by gamekeeper »

A big ol' carrion crow, 28g #6 from my Stevens 94 16 gauge, I laid him out for his mate to see but no show.
Probably the last time my cartridge to kill ratio is 100%......... :lol:

You're too modest my friend.

By my count you have a pretty good record going.

I still say you're the huntinest chap in the UK. :D

I think you may have confused me with our friend Nath and his faithful hound Tia.
A few years ago I would have given Nath a run for his money but I'm happy to see him and Tia hunting as often and as succesfully as they do :D
If you have the right contacts in the UK every day is open season for something. :wink:

Haha!

Not at all. Ole Nath is something else all together. :lol:

You guys get in some serious field time over there.

Until I joined this site I never would have guessed that there is so much hunting opportunity in the UK.

it goes to show how we can be still uninformed in the modern world.

Headed to the range to burn my first powder today. Probably no leverguns though.

I've gotta shoot my 22/45 Lite that I've been tinkering with. Probably my GSR and my carry pistols also.

I took my first shot of the year about 15 minutes into the new year.

Hmm, not the shot I would have taken...

Now we're talking!

But I only had a choice of:
* Jack Daniel's black label
* Jack Daniel's green label
* Gentleman Jack
* Jack Daniel's Winter Jack
* Jack Daniel's Honey Jack
* Jack Daniel's Single Barrel
* Jack Daniel's Single Barrel - Silver Select

By the way, that last one................ Oh my!!!! :wink:

No, I don't have too many 22s...

But for these "shots" -- I guess I am pretty well supplied!!! :shock:

I don't drink the hard stuff too much, but Gentleman Jack, or Crown Royal is pretty tasty...Some of the better brands of tequila are not too bad, either. 100 Años is pretty smooth.

I like Gentleman Jack and Single Barrel but I just have to try that Jack Daniels single barrel Silver Reserve, I trust Darryl's taste buds on all things Jack... :wink:
I'll try that 100 Años too, thanks for the tip TTT.

I had to correct it, as I guess I had a little too much last night... Then I had a 4:00 AM wakeup for an early coyote hunt; I was fearless, but ended up "furless"... :? Anyway, that last one on my list is correctly labeled as "Silver Reserve".

Sorry to put "all this" into your nice thread about shooting John, but you did take the "first shot". :wink:

Cheers!

Bourbon is my only vice nowadays, despite this thread making me look like a candidate for rehap :oops: I do only drink moderately, well, most of the time but with so many different Bourbons out there and so little time!!!!
I guess my signature line doesn't help my image either... :lol:

Game keeper, I drink only occasionally, but when I do drink, I like the good stuff. There are many bourbons I don't like, and just a few types of beer I enjoy.

10:00PM one shot from the Marlin SS mod 60 into the area just higher than between the eyes of a big boar opossum which was after a late night snack of cat food on my front porch. The male cat had just came back from a hunting trip (female) & backed the possum into the corner of the porch. Both were growling at each other.

I really wanted the first shot to be a deer.

Finally shook enough of respiratory virus to get out for last day , Saturday,of muzzleloader season. Popped a doe at the far side of field, saw her drop, but by the time reloaded and crossed the field, couldn't find her or any sign. It was running a heavy drizzle and light breeze,almost a moving fog. Went back in AM and walked right to her, she had dropped, got back up and run toward the blind instead of the escape trails. Doe probably dressed 150, and was heavy with fat-hope its not a portent of the rest of this winter. Good start up for 2015. Hope it stays good for all.
