That isn't a Marlin Cowboy !

It also isn't a Model 1894 as the seller claims , for one thing a Marlin 1894 action isn't long enough to accommodate 30-30 length cartridges .

The gun has the brass saddle ring which really means nothing as the rings can be purchased and attached .

The gun has what appears to be a Marlin Model 1893 barrel screwed in the 336 action .

To make a long story short for anything over $200 I would steer clear and leave it alone .

Whoever Mickey is that bought that thing , I hope for his sake it shoots REALLY WELL because it's not much good for a collectible piece .

I was pretty sure that the barrel markings were way earlier than 336's. And serial # didn't make sense either.
I'd pay $350-$400 for that gun just for the caliber, but $800+, I don't think so.

At the point I had acquired 10 lever guns, I got the idea to buy a beater that I could disassemble & teach myself how they worked &how to put them back together. Found a $80 thing Ted Williams in .30-30 for that purpose.

Problem was, it shot better that any & all of the other 10. lol

Wow, I need to offer to that forum My expertise as a brain surgeon or rocket scientist. I am glad I'm not a member there. and the seller with nearly 13K posts knows exactly what He is doing. What a bunch. He would be tied to the whippin post here. .

I think the term "parts gun" comes to mind.
